Slow Art - $15 {Thursday 9.30 - 11am}
Informal gathering and conversation hosted by various tutors. Includes morning tea.
Slow Art sessions are achievable, accessible and inclusive of all skill levels. Designed as a way to remember or learn handcrafting skills and techniques; these gatherings are about enjoying the slow process of making something by hand, and the connections made while learning (or relearning). 
These workshops are part-funded by our Pozible campaign. Some sessions may require an additional materials fee.

The Dream Box - presented by Heather Matthew
Join the inspirational Heather Matthew in this charming session of creative visualisation.

The Journal Conversations - presented by Edith Streiner
Join Printmaker and Illustrator, Edith Streiner for a relaxed session of mark-making and stimulating conversation about the nature and process of drawing.

The Woven and the Wearable - presented by Nell Wilkin
Join Northern Rivers YarnArtist and Crafter Nell Wilkin in an exploration of free-form weaving.
With guidance and a pot of tea (or two) to enjoy, find your OWN way weaving a beautiful array of natural and made materials (provided) to create a final woven piece that you will surely treasure as a wearable wonder. Do bring along a notebook and pencil/inks to record your process if/as you like.. settle into your own creative space & take time for yourself to create. Remember, if you
have any other treasures that you think you may also like to include within your art on the day, please bring them along, too!

The Drawing Room - presented by Tamsin Ainslie
Join Children’s book Illustrator and Bookmaker, Tamsin Ainslie in the drawing room. Respond to a curated collection of objects and enjoy the simple beauty of making marks.

Hand stitched little pieces - presented by Ellie Beck
Using simple and beautiful hand stitching techniques, create your own 'little piece'. You can choose to make a pin cushion, a fabric wrist wrap (bracelet), tea/coffee cup cosy, or a little needle case. This gathering is about the enjoyment of taking time making marks on fabric, using basic embroidery and hand stitching details.

Intensive workshops for participants who want to gain skills in a range of art-making and crafting practice.

Celebrate – Paper Folding with Denise Stefanac
The perfect pre-christmas workshop! Join passionate paper person Denise Stefanac for a day of paper folding, cutting and construction. Learn the tricks to crafting paper decorations such as garlands and pom-poms from upcycled papers and everyday materials. A brilliant kick-start to having a gorgeous festive home or lovingly handcrafted gifts.

Screen Printing onto fabric – with Ellie Beck
Learn the principles of screen printing and design. Using hand cut stencils, and screen printing tools, you'll gain the skills and techniques to print your own fabric. A small class group means dedicated teacher assistance, and more time printing! Bring your own fabric or blanks (pillowcase, tea towel, tote bag), or purchase some from Hey Maker!

Through an Artist’s eyes : Oil Painting with Barb Suttie
Observe and respond to the natural world and local surroundings with local landscape artist Barb Suttie.  A patient and experienced tutor, Barb will guide you through the process of working with oils and acrylics in the traditional manner.  
Experienced participants are encouraged to bring their own materials, while beginners have the option to purchase a materials package.  Create a small canvas, transfer your ideas onto an eco-friendly bag or begin a larger project with a view to finishing it in your home studio.

Teen Zine Workshop with Roxy Coppen from RAWINK Magazine.
This teen workshop is a brilliant opportunity for 14-18 year old to learn the basics of making a Zine, including concept, layout & design and image creation using techniques such as collage, image transfers, mark making and basic print techniques.
Your tutor for the day is the fab Roxy, co-founder and graphic designer of the online magazine, RawInk.  Your Zine will be hand-bound by you and “photocopy ready” for production!

Character Development and Bookmaking with Illustrator and Bookmaker, Tamsin Ainslie
A unique opportunity to learn the process of developing a character for Illustration and Design. Join one of this regions most talented and friendly artists, Tamsin Ainslie, for a day of drawings, imagination, story and book.  Gain an insight into her creative process by learning about the many facets that feed her creative outpourings. Your own drawings, collections and stories will be collated in a book bound by you.

The Upcycled Wardrobe with Kathy Egan
A gorgeous day of turning forgotten or “too hard” fashion projects into clothing success! Bring your op-shop treasures in need of alteration, bargains and fashion faux pas along and rework them into wearable wonders. You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine and get some expert tips on how to upcycle your clothing and revive a tired wardrobe.
